We express our concern about the recent attacks on independent journalists and express our solidarity. All cases must be investigated and those responsible for these wrongdoings should be brought to justice. In this regard we welcome President Tokayev’s call today for a full investigation.

Freedom of expression and free media are essential to build a new Kazakhstan with an open and vibrant society and accountable system of government.

We renew our support for Kazakhstan in its efforts to achieve these goals.
