Project Description

The Civil Society for Kazakhstan (CS4K) project addresses the need to promote fundamental freedoms and rights in Kazakhstan. The main objectives include building the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) for local advocacy projects and fostering support for good governance practices. The project utilizes IWPR's and INIDI's extensive experience in the region, leveraging networks from the EU-funded Kazakhstan Uncensored initiative. Through technical training, evidence generation, trust-building with communities, and alliance-building, CS4K aims to empower Kazakh CSOs to advocate for social change, contributing to improved fundamental freedoms and promoting accountability and good governance in the country.

Main target groups

Established CSOs (5-10 years of experience) with a focus on women’s rights and youth, as well as more nascent groups, which could include networks, associations, grassroots collectives, or professional associations working on human rights more widely.

Expected results:

CS4K will result in the increased capacity of Kazakh CSOs to advocate for social change at a local level.

Achievements to date:

The project has successfully assembled the core team for the project, securing key personnel to drive CS4K's objectives and initiatives.
