2019 EU in Jamaica Short Film Competition Workshop a Hit!

As promised, the 25 finalists in the EU in Jamaica environment-themed short film competition were treated to an intensive but highly productive workshop on October 19, 2019. The event was divided into three sessions - storytelling, cinematography and editing/post-production - and delivered by experts in the areas.
Jamaican director and cinematographer, Gabrielle Blackwood, presented on cinematography; scriptwriting consultant, Blanca Escoda, from Spain introduced the participants to storytelling and film editor Cédric Zoenen from Belgium taught basics in editing.

The workshop was held at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew and was mandatory for all participants. The finalists will now have a month to produce 3-5 minute films on the theme "My environment: a heritage to be protected". The winner will be announced on December 12. First prize (Best Film) is a trip to Europe to participate in a filmmaking course.
In feedback following the workshop, many of the participants said they welcomed the hands-on approach especially because majority of them have little to no experience in filmmaking.
