About the Ambassador

The European Union Ambassador is the European Union's chief diplomatic representative in Guinea-Bissau and responsible for the Delegation.

Federico Bianchi has been the EU Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau since September 2025.

Prior to his current position, Ambassador Federico Bianchi was spokesperson and head of press and public diplomacy at the EU Delegation to the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Bianchi was elected President of the Diplomatic Press Attachés Association in London (DPAAL). Winner of the Young Diplomat of the Year Award (London, 2018).

MESSAGE FROM THE AMBASSADOR

It is with great honour that I began my mission as Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau in September 2025.

My first few months in Bissau gave me the opportunity to get to know this fantastic country, with its wonderful people and rich cultural diversity, from the mainland to the islands of the Bijagós archipelago. This experience reinforced my conviction that Guinea-Bissau is a country with enormous human, economic and environmental potential.

As you know, the European Union and Guinea-Bissau share a solid and lasting relationship based on friendship, trust and a common commitment to sustainable development. Today, this partnership is stronger and more dynamic than ever, reflecting a joint desire to build a future of prosperity, stability and opportunities for all.

The European Union is, and will continue to be, a close and committed partner to the Guinean people. Through the Global Gateway initiative, we aim to strengthen our cooperation in key sectors such as fisheries, agriculture, energy, infrastructure and health, promoting sustainable investments that contribute to economic growth and the well-being of communities.

Our goal is to support Guinea-Bissau on its path towards the desired development, ensuring that the benefits of progress reach everyone, in line with the European principle of “leaving no one behind”.

I am deeply committed to continuing and giving new impetus to the joint work between the European Union, its Member States and Guinea-Bissau, in the spirit of Team Europe, promoting concrete actions that strengthen the country's resilience and create conditions for inclusive and sustainable development.

With confidence and shared ambition, I reaffirm my commitment to a more prosperous, sustainable and united Guinea-Bissau. Together towards the future!
