The European Union (EU) in Ghana and Ghana COCOBOD hold sustainable cocoa dialogue in Accra

Topics discussed included environment protection (ensuring the sustainability of supply chains) and labour rights (living income for cocoa farmers and child labour). Those are key priorities for both the EU and Ghana.
The Dialogue also examined how development partners and the private sector could contribute to the development of the sector in the coming years.
The dialogue will feed into a broader dialogue held in Europe together with Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire: the CocoaTalks, launched in September 2020 by the European Commission. The discussions hosted locally will be an opportunity to enrich the exchange by providing insights specific to Ghana.
Mr. Joseph Aidoo, Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), addressed the Dialogue together with H.E. Mrs. Diana Acconcia, European Union Ambassador to Ghana. Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Ghana’s Minister of Food and Agriculture, delivered the opening remark.
