Study in Europe Fair 2025 concluded successfully with record attendance in Addis Ababa

(Addis Ababa, 18 November, 2025) The Study in Europe Fair 2025 organised by EU Delegation to Ethiopia concluded today at the Kotebe University of Education, marking a significant milestone with over 9,000 University and high school students attending the two-day event. The fair, held from 17-18 November, saw strong participation from eight European Union Member State Embassies, namely Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxemburg, Malta, Portugal, and Sweden offering Ethiopian students a direct pathway to international education opportunities.

The event provided a comprehensive platform for prospective students to explore diverse academic landscapes and connect directly with embassy representatives and education officials. Students gathered information on a wide array of programs, scholarship opportunities, application procedures, and the cultural experiences awaiting them in Europe.

Opening the fair, EU Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sofie From-Emmesberger stressed that “Education lies at the heart of sustainable development and mutual understanding. It empowers individuals, strengthens societies, and builds bridges across cultures and continents. The European Union firmly believes that knowledge and learning are powerful instruments for global cooperation and progress. By studying in Europe, students gain access not only to world-class education, but also to the values that underpin the European project: openness, inclusion, academic freedom, and respect for diversity.”

The exceptional turnout is a clear manifestation of the high demand for European higher education among Ethiopian youth. The embassies involved showcased their respective countries' academic strengths, aiming to foster greater educational mobility and reinforce cultural ties.

The success of the fair underscores the collaborative effort between the participating EU Member States in “Team Europe” spirit and local Ethiopian educational bodies, notably the host institution, Kotebe University of Education. The European Union will plan to leverage this success for future educational initiatives, continuing to build bridges between the continents' academic communities.
