Addis Ababa, 3 October 2025, the European Union together with its Member States (Spain and Italy) handed over medical equipment to six university hospitals financed under the EU Joint Initiative to strengthen medical specialization project in Ethiopia.  “The European Union is proud to stand alongside the Ministry of Health and our European partners in this landmark initiative to strengthen Ethiopia’s healthcare system,” said Agnieszka Karpinska, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ethiopia. “Today’s handover of medical equipment to the university hospitals reflects the values of Team Europe: solidarity, long-term partnership, and local ownership. The Initiative facilitates the platform for EU medical societies and Ethiopian university hospitals to work together and enhance speciality trainings in priority fields of medicine. The EU remains committed to supporting Ethiopia’s journey toward accessible, high-quality healthcare for all.
