Joint Communique Ministerial Meeting EU-CV Special Partnership

The 13th Political dialogue at Ministerial level between the European Union and the Republic of Cabo Verde under the EU - Cabo Verde Special Partnership was held in Brussels, on 31 January 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by HE Bernard Quintin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions of the Kingdom of Belgium, on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and by HE José Filomeno de Carvalho Dias Monteiro, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration of the Republic of Cabo Verde.

Two years after celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Special Partnership, the European Union and Cabo Verde (hereafter "the partners") highlighted the success of the Partnership in meeting its objectives. Over the past 17 years, significant progress has been achieved across all its pillars through various cooperation activities involving Cabo Verde, the EU and its Member States. Cabo Verde underlined the EU crucial role in its development and in areas of strategic mutual interest, such as security, including maritime security, fisheries and the sustainable blue economy, digital transformation, climate change and energy transition, renewables and hydrogen production, as well as environmental protection, and the partners agreed on the role of research and innovation to tackle key sustainable transformation pathways.
