On that basis, the EU launched an EU funded project called "Dialogue on Economic Diversification” which aims to support the economic diversification strategies. The project funds opportunities for strengthened sustainable trade, investment and business co-operation through the organization of business fora, roundtables and policy discussions. The project team and the EU Delegation organized a networking meeting for National European Business Councils and the EU Delegation's Trade Councillor and EU member States’ Trade Counselors.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office was invited as a Guest of Honour and the officials from that office gave a presentation about "Growth Opportunities in Abu Dhabi". The attendees were also briefed about "Ghadan 21", a string of initiatives to boost business with major new trade reforms in the capital.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for information exchange about the possibilities for further business and deepening the economic partnership in order to facilitate further trade and investment.
