What we do

The mission of the European Union Delegation to Burkina Faso

The role of the Delegation in Burkina Faso is to:

  • Ensure the representation of the European Union in Burkina Faso, represent the Community in the exercise of its own powers.
  • In this context, ensure the follow-up of bilateral relations in the fields of political and trade relations as well as cooperation.
  • Monitor EU policies in all sectors.
  • Promote and defend the values and interests of the EU in Burkina Faso.
  • Maintain and increase the visibility, knowledge, and understanding of the EU.
  • Ensure the follow-up of economic, political and cooperation relations with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), and cooperation relations with other inter-African organizations in the sub-region, in particular, the Permanent Inter-State Committee for Struggle against Drought in the Sahel (CILSS).
  • Ensure the long-term programming of aid and the management of decentralized programs and projects as part of the reform of the management of external aid underway.
