In celebration of the 75 th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Nafasi Art Space through the support of the European Union (EU) conducted an art competition that saw young artists aged between 12 years and 25 years express their understanding of human rights through their artwork.

The protection of young human rights defenders and fostering youth participation in policy-making topped the agenda of the 25th edition of the EU-NGO Human Rights Forum, as this year's theme focused on “Youth as actors of change for human rights”.

On 10 December 2023 the world marked the 75 th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). As values-based organisations, the European Union and the Council of Europe both rest upon the commitment to guarantee equal enjoyment of universal human rights. Gender equality thus stands at the centre of our work and is a key priority in our cooperation. Over the years, we have continuously strengthened synergies to combat gender-based violence and, more broadly, to ensure better convergence on gender equality standards. Our commitment in this area will grow ever more tangible with the EU ratification of the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention, the first and most important legally binding international treaty on preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence.
