European Union Delegation to the African Union engaged with 20 journalists from the African Union Media fellowship

The African Union Media Fellowship Programme (AUMF) is one of the African Union flagship programmes that aims at transforming African media by empowering African media professionals and content creators to challenge prevailing narratives about Africa.

It supports innovative media outputs, in alignment with the AU Agenda 2063 objectives.

The programme also encourages ethical journalism and facilitates collaboration among media experts for cross-border coverage, while engaging with policymakers.

20 journalists and content creators from all regions of African countries and with professional backgrounds in audio-visual, print and digital journalism were in Addis Ababa during the 37th African Union Summit to receive professional journalism training from the African Union and its partners, including the European Union.

The EU Delegation’s contribution to the AUMF involves a training on analyzing the media landscape and trends in Europe – Africa relations, followed by an introduction to the European Union and an AU-EU comparative analysis of media coverage on actual issues pertaining to both continents.
