Real name:

I presented my credentials to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya on 15th September 2015, thereby officially starting my mission to Kenya.

On this occasion, I pledged to provide a change for the better in relations between Kenya the European Union and its 28 Member States.

The 40 years of partnership with Kenya we are celebrating in 2016 provide a further impetus to such an end. Our relationship with the Government of Kenya has developed throughout our 40 years together, from providing technical and financial aid to a fuller partnership aimed at tackling strategic interests and challenges, translating political and socio-economic commitments into concrete and sustainable programmes.

Stefano A. Dejak, the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Kenya, was appointed on 28th July 2015. He previously served in the Eastern African region as the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, and also as ambassador to the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, based in Nairobi. He has accordingly developed a familiarity with the region, having also previously worked as the Head of the Greater Horn of Africa Department for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He holds degrees in History and Political Science, from the University of Ca' Foscari (Venice) and LUISS University (Rome).
