Safeguarding the ocean for future generations is a shared responsibility and a matter of global urgency. The EU is at the forefront of climate action. As the 2019 worldwide #EUBeachCleanUp campaign nears the end, the EU welcomes this year’s #OurOcean conference in Oslo where it announces its commitments to protect the ocean.

The EU and its Member States are the second largest donors to the IAEA Nuclear Security Fund with EU contributions alone amounting to more than EUR 50 million for the period of 2009-2019. Furthermore, the EU has contributed more than EUR 24 million to the establishment and the secure management of a Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) Bank under the control of the IAEA. The financial contribution of over EUR 4 million aims to ensure that nuclear fuel is supplied in a secure and safe manner and to help the IAEA guarantee the security and safety of LEU transport from procurement to supply, and during storage at the Bank's site. Under the Instrument for Stability, the European Commission provided EUR 20 million for the purpose of acquiring the LEU.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, and the Minister of National Defence of Viet Nam, General NGO Xuan Lich, signed an Agreement establishing a framework for the participation of Viet Nam in European Union crisis management operations.

The Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), is a panel discussion which will showcase our successful cooperation for inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
