During the 2-day visit, his first one in the country, Graziano discussed with Gjurchinovski the participation of the N MAC Army in the European Union (EU) military missions and operations, the transformation process and integration of local Armed Forces into NATO, as well as the support offered by the EUMC for their processes of integration.
A very effective demonstration of Special Operation Forces capacities was also presented to the visiting delegation.
Additionally, CEUMC had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Defence, Mrs Radmila Sekerinska, who voiced the desire to consider a potential increase in cooperation and possible deployment of personnel in EU missions and operations. Both of them praised the progresses in the ratification process for the membership of North Macedonia into NATO, and expressed the hope that a positive decision by EU Member States for opening the negotiations for EU membership will be made later this month.
"The truly warm welcome by North Macedonia political and military authorities was a tangible sign of the enthusiastic approach and commitment on a road to the European Union membership", said Graziano at the end of a very fruitful visit to North Macedonia.
During the permanence in Skopje, CEUMC visited also the EU Delegation to the Republic of North Macedonia, where he met with EU Ambassador, Mr. Samuel Zbogar, to discuss the relationships between EU and North Macedonia.
