During his visit, the high-ranking EU military official had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Defence, Ms Florence Parly, and share with her views on issues of mutual interest. "We agreed - stated the Chairman after the meeting - on the pivotal role of the European Military missions and operations and we had a constructive discussion on the developments of the European Global Strategy".
General Graziano also met the Director General for international relations and strategy, Ms. Alice Guitton, and had with her fruitful and open discussion on the latest developments of the European Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
The visit also provided a precious occasion to discuss with the French Chief of the Defence Staff common strategic goals and actions. In particular, the two Generals agreed on the importance of the EU CSDP missions and operations in Africa, with the aim to increase human security, promote the rule of law and to empower our local partners.
During the visit both French civilian and military authorities demonstrated their full involvement in the good dynamic of the EU CSDP and showed their strong commitment to support the implementation of the EU Global strategy both in the operational and the capability development domains.
Finally, the Chairman visited one of the of the operation “Sentinelle”'s Command Centres, where he was welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the 13th halfbrigade of the French Foreign Legion (13e DBLE, demi-brigade de la Légion Etrangère) and had important talks with the Military Governor of Paris, Lieutenant General Bruno Le Ray. “The Operation Sentinelle - General Graziano underlined - is a good example of cooperation between Armed Forces and Internal Forces for the security of the Country”.
