17 July unites all those who wish to support justice, promote victims' rights, and help prevent crimes that threaten the peace, security and well-being of the world. "We shall never forget atrocities from the past but rather keep them as part of our collective human memory and determination to prevent future conflicts and genocides. That is why the EU contributes each year to the promotion of international criminal justice," stated EU High Representative Federica Mogherini on behalf of the EU, on the occasion of International Criminal Justice Day.
As we mark the International Criminal Justice Day, the European Union reaffirms its longstanding support towards the international criminal justice system and in particular its unwavering commitment to the International Criminal Court (ICC), as part of the EU's wider commitment to a rules-based international order.
Active engagement of youth in sustainable development efforts is key to achieving sustainable, inclusive and stable societies and to preventing challenges to sustainable development, including climate change, unemployment, poverty, gender inequality, conflict, and migration. However, truth be told, young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults and continuously exposed to lower quality of jobs, inequalities, and longer school-to-work transitions.
"My ID-entity" is a photo exhibition illustrating how the EU and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) support refugee registration in Bangladesh. The EEAS and the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments hosted the exhibition to mark the occasion of World Refugee Day on 20 June 2019, following its previous stop on Place Flagey in Brussels, Belgium. The exhibition is symbolic for the joint endeavour by the EU and UNHCR to help and support Rohingya refugees.
