Location: Project funded under the 11th EDF Technical Cooperation Fund (TCF) and managed by the EU Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago
Overall Objective: To assist Trinidad & Tobago in achieving the goal of generating 10% of its present installed capacity from Renewable Energy by 2021.
Overview:
Under its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC/Paris Agreement), Trinidad and Tobago is aiming to achieve a reduction objective in overall emissions from the three (3) Sectors (power generation, transportation and industrial) by 15% by 2030 through, in part a transition to renewable energy. As a result the Government of Trinidad & Tobago (GORTT), through the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) sought Expressions of Interest from qualified Developers with in-depth experience in Renewable Energy Utility Scale Projects, through Build Own Operate (BOO) Schemes.
Applicants were invited to submit Proposals and subsequently, the GORTT requested support from the EU to contract a consultancy to assist in the evaluation of these proposals.
The Renewable Energy Consultancy will enable T&T to work with the EU and other development partners, towards the achievement of its Renewable Energy goals and targets, taking into consideration the Paris Climate Change Agreement at COP21 and the SDG Framework.
