EU supports online government monitoring programme in Burkina Faso

Good governance depends on transparency. In Burkina Faso, an EU-supported project run by civil society is helping increase transparency by allowing online oversight of government activities.

An EU-funded programme in Burkina Faso is pioneering the use of new technologies and effective networking  for civil society monitoring of government activities in Africa.

EU Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis' was in Burkina Faso in July for the launch of the "Présimètre" project. Designed to increase transparency, the accountability of government and cooperation of government and civil society, the programme includes an online platform monitoring government policies. These cover the fields of healthcare, education, food security, water and sanitation among others.
