For the second year in a row, the European Parliament, the European External Action Service and the European Commission are teaming up with organisations[i] dedicated to democracy support to organise a joint event in celebration of the International Day of Democracy. In these testing times for democracy, we believe it is crucial to stand together in support of democratic and European values and inspire a discussion about possible new ways of democratic renewal.
The event aims to provide a forum to take stock of current trends and challenges, and analyse the needs and possibilities for reconnecting citizens and democratic institutions. High level politicians and EU officials will participate in discussion panels with academics, grassroots activists and practitioners, bringing together a broad range of interests and expertise.
This is a public event, targeted at the democratic community of practice and all those interested in the latest trends, challenges and issues connected to democracy promotion.
As part of the conference, a number of the organising partners are holding an exhibition entitled “Voices of Democracy”, showcasing works of pro-democracy activists, artists and organisations. For more info see the flyer.
