Ambassador Mara Marinaki, EEAS Principal Adviser on Gender and on the Implementation of UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, represented the EU during the event. Ambassador Marinaki emphasized that "the role of women and men as caregivers should be neutral"; hence, a role exchange should be instituted. She underscored that the "limitations and hurdles are to be overcome for women to gain access to the workplace and an equitable role". She added that "gender perception should change and we should raise boys like girls"; indeed, she stressed: "we do not ask boys how they will combine raising children with having a career".

The conference also counted on the presence of: Mr Gary Barker, President and CEO, and Shereen El Feki, Senior Fellow, from Promundo; Ms Kate Gilmore, UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights; Ms Arancha González, Executive Director, International Trade Centre; Ms Sonali Khan, Vice President and Country Director Breakthrough; Mr Douglas Mendoza, Regional Coordinator, MenEngage Alliance, Latin America; H.E. Alvaro Cedeño Molinari, Costa Rica's Ambassador to the WTO; H.E. Mr Thorsteinn Víglundsson, Iceland's Minister of Social Affairs and Equality; and Dr Sharman Stone, Australia's Ambassador for Women and Girls.
