A year into the implementation of the European Union's shared vision and action plan for foreign and security policy, "we see substantial changes in the way we work together" and concrete results which make Europe stronger and safer, High Representative Federica Mogherini said today presenting the first annual report on the EU Global Strategy at the Foreign Affairs Council.

Preventive diplomacy, or the resolution of disputes by peaceful means, has been one of the foundations of the EU’s foreign and security policy in Asia and beyond and stands as an expression of a rule-based international order. Moreover, in its key strategic documents, including the recently released Global Strategy, the EU has highlighted the importance of preventive diplomacy, as reflected in the proposed ‘integrated approach’ to conflicts and crises.
Following on from a CSDP reflection seminar, about 60 ESDC alumni from Moldova met the participants of another training event to discuss the EU Global Strategy. The national and multinational alumni events are designed to promote horizontal (involving participants from different courses) and vertical (involving participants from different class years) networking.
The European Union's Global Strategy was set out earlier this year by High Representative Federica Mogherini. Visiting Australia in the week of 26 September Nathalie Tocci who helped draft the strategy will be in Australia expanding on the ideas of the Global Strategy and how these could be relevant in the Australian context.
