Celebrating a decade of EU diplomacy

The European Union’s diplomatic service (EEAS) marked a special milestone on 1 January 2021 - ten years since its launch. It was a major step in the European integration and developing common foreign policy. In the decade that followed, the EEAS – with all Delegations, missions and operations – has become an appreciated and acclaimed partner to all its interlocutors around the globe.

EU Foreign Policy in Action

Thanks to the work of our 143 European Union Delegations and 17 Missions and Operations on the ground, the EU plays a vital role in promoting its values and principles worldwide. Some highlights of EU foreign policy in action have been captured in a special photo exhibition, including an entry from the European Union Delegation to Australia.

Blue on Blue: Australia’s most iconic landmark lights up for Europe Day

The sails of the Sydney Opera House shone bright in the European Union colours of blue and gold to celebrate Europe Day in 2017.
