The EU Security Sector Reform Working Group meeting took place on 20 June

The European Union Security Sector Reform-Counter Terrorism Working Group meeting took place on 20 June at the new Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) premises in the Ministry of Interior (MoI) compound. The Working Group was co-chaired by Mr Benny Jensen, Deputy Head of the EUAM Iraq and Counsellor Thierry Martin from the EU Delegation to Iraq. Mr Finn Andersen from the UNDP Iraq was an invited guest speaker and outlined the Iraq Ministry of Interior Police Roadmap.

The Working Group meets bi-monthly. Its purpose is to coordinate the assistance of the EU Member States, the EU Delegation and the EUAM Iraq in civilian Security Sector domain and Security Sector Reform in Iraq especially in the area of Counter-Terrorism.

In the upcoming working group meeting Canada and Australia will be invited by EUAM Iraq to participate as the Third State contributors. The first Australian and Canadian experts were deployed to the EUAM Iraq mission in June.
