Nearly 300 students from the United States International University and the Technical University of Kenya –both located in Nairobi- were shown the documentary "Europe at Sea" about the EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy, followed by a discussion with the European Union Ambassador Stefano A. Dejak at the University Main Hall on 17th of July, alongside Prof Michael Kihara, Prof Macharia Munene, Dr Rachel Dianga and Ms Joan Kimani from USIU-A.
While answering questions from the students, Ambassador Dejak addressed several misperceptions on what the European Union is, what it does and shared insights on the Union's Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy. Students showed great interest in the movie and were keenly involved in the ensuing discussion, also addressing comparisons with the integration process within the East African Community as well as the migration and refugees challenges within the Greater Horn of Africa region.
The event also provided an opportunity for the delegation to provide students with information on the EU's Erasmus Mundus program.
