The Directorate General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) is the executive branch of the European Union responsible for policy on education, culture, youth, languages, and sport.
Each year 12 million girls under 18 are married; 130 million girls worldwide are still out of school; and approximately 15 million adolescent girls aged 15-19 have experienced forced sexual activity. The EU is committed to continue its full support to see progress and not regress, for girls and women to achieve gender equality.
"This scholarship is a life defining moment for me. I have no words to express my happiness on winning the Erasmus+ scholarship. My dream has come true!" said a delighted Bethlehem Solomon, one of the Ethiopian students, when she was granted with this opportunity.
More than 3,000 academic exchange opportunities will be available for students and academic staff to study teach and train, thanks to the EU's Erasmus+ new Call for Proposals for Russia with a total budget of EUR 17 million. The EU has kicked off an awareness raising campaign to inform young people in Russia about these opportunities between the EU and Russia.
The EU Delegation to the AU met on August 22nd with African Union Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology (HRST), Sarah Anyang Agbor, and members of the HRST Department.
The Work Programme covering the last three years of Horizon 2020 (2018-2020) was published on 27 October 2017.
