Online seminar “Saving Bodies and Souls: The Lawyers Standing Up for Women’s Rights”

25/06/2021 - 10:26
Conference/seminarOnline activities

When the voices of NGOs and activists become too faint, it is the lawyers who step up. Recent years have seen continuous success in new legislation around consent, domestic violence, and anti-harassment across Europe. However, this trend is not uniform and in some states the rights of women have regressed.

The Legal Dialogue Playbook, the new publication of the Legal Dialogue Programme will, among other topics, shed light on the most pressing issues in European law to do with women’s rights. We need this event to showcase and celebrate the victories of the lawyers, who are often too busy fighting and winning cases. Please join us and this remarkable group of activists and defenders of our rights from across Europe to learn about their work in protecting women.

The event, which will take place on 29 June 2021, 4pm-5.30pm CEST / 5pm-6.30pm MSK, will focus on the most effective methods used, the challenges ahead, how their victories can be preserved, and the best ways to offer support. It will feature:

  • Yulia Gorbunova, Human Rights Watch, Russia
  • Kamila Ferenc, Federation for Women and Family Planning, Poland
  • Sofia Rohdin, FATTA!, Sweden

To participate please register

The project has been supported by the European Union, the German Federal Foreign Office, the Charities Aid Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
