Global Exchange on Religion in Society (GERIS) is an EU-funded, two-year (2020-2022) technical assistance project for networking, societal capacity building and social media engagement. The project is implemented by a consortium composed of Particip (lead partner) and the Media Diversity Institute.
GERIS will connect civil society actors who are working on social inclusion in religiously diverse contexts, all around the world. Through this action, the European Union aims to empower civic engagement and facilitate a more active, participatory and shared sense of citizenship across different sets of beliefs and worldviews. Participants (from civil society actors and journalists) will be selected for their experience in managing cultural and religious diversity, and for promoting active, participatory and inclusive citizenship.
The Global Exchange is an opportunity to connect, share and scale-up.
Connect: Participants will meet with people from all over the world, facing their same challenges. They will become members of a GERIS Alumni Network.
Share: Every participant will bring to the table their own experience. They will make their voice heard, while learning from others.
Scale-up: Participants will be offered training on policy and media engagement. They will receive support to prepare micro-projects, either individually or jointly.
The project will not only have a virtual component but also physical exchanges, which will take place in Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Morocco, South Africa, and USA.
