In 2020, the project awarded the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 certificates to Turkmen Entrepreneurs involved in agriculture and food production in Turkmenistan.

The certificates were issued by the CERT International certification body of Slovakia, which was engaged by the SARD III to conduct food safety management system (FSMS) and quality management system (QMS) certification audits at the enterprises in November 2019.

The ceremony was held with participation of representatives of the European Union Delegation in Turkmenistan, representatives of the CERT International in Turkmenistan.

The Team Leader of the SARD III Project, Mr Arthur Russell, and the Partner of CERT International in Turkmenistan, Ms Gulistan Gafurova, handed the ISO Certificates to the managing directors of the enterprises. Mr Russell and Ms Gafurova both congratulated the entrepreneurs for this momentous achievement and emphasized the importance of continuing to maintaining the high standards, especially in the area of safety within the work site.

Appreciations were also given by managing directors of the certified companies. It was mentioned that during the certification process, the teams of the enterprises continuously did their best to achieve good results in every stage of their work.

This activity was part of SARD III activities aimed at supporting the Government of Turkmenistan in increasing productivity and competitiveness of the agro-food sector through activities that improve production, processing and marketing, as well as strengthening the capacity of supporting public sector agriculture institutions.  The activity builds on the progress achieved to date by SARD III in the area of private sector development and export promotion.
