Глобальная стратегия ЕС по внешней политике и политике безопасности, представленная в июне 2016 года, подчеркивает неотъемлемую связь между внешней и внутренней безопасностью ЕС на фоне нестабильной геополитической обстановки. Ни одна страна не может противостоять этим возникающим угрозам в одиночку. Интересы всех государств-членов ЕС неразрывно связаны во всем, что касается безопасности. Именно по этой причине ЕС создает условия, позволяющие государствам-членам более тесно сотрудничать друг с другом в области обороны.

During the Eastern Partnership (EaP) panel on 'Security, CSDP and Civil Protection', EU Member States and EaP countries discussed ways to increase training opportunities on the common security and defence policy of the European Union. Austria, Lithuania and Sweden in particular supported events directed at strengthening capacity-building measures in the partner countries.

The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC), General Claudio Graziano, paid a visit to Mali, from 11th to 13th November 2018, on the occasion of the EUTM-Mali Change of Command.

Military Committee meeting in 2018.

The 1st October marks 10 years since the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) was deployed to Georgia. For a decade, the EUMM has contributed to enhanced security and stability, conducting over 65,000 patrols on the ground. Over 1,700 EU nationals have served in the Mission over the years. That these staff have come from all 28 EU Member States is the strongest possible testament to the commitment of the entire European Union to this Mission. The Mission focuses on enhancing stability, monitoring the situation and rights of the people most affected by the conflict, building confidence and reporting factually.

It is with great sadness that we learned about the departure of Lieutenant General Wolfgang Wosolsobe, former Director General of the EU Military Staff.

On 18 September 2018, the Council extended the mandate of EUCAP Sahel Niger until 30 September 2020 and agreed on a budget of €63.4 million for the period 1 October 2018 to 30 September 2020.

Lieutenant-General Vincenzo Coppola from the Italian Carabinieri has today on 17 September taken up his duties as the new Civilian Operations Commander.
