Visa
For travellers to the European Union, there are two visa options:
- Schengen visa - a short stay visa allowing the holder to circulate in the Schengen area: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and, non-EU states: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
You should apply for the visa at the embassy of the country where you will enter the Schengen area or where you spend most of the time. It is advisable to contact the relevant embassy to learn when you have to apply. You might have to book an appointment.
- Secondly, the National visa is meant for those who wish to stay in or visit one EU country. In order to apply for a national visa, you need to visit the embassy of the country you wish to reside in. The national visa will only grant access to this EU state and can be either a single entry or multiple entries. For the most updated information, please read the instructions on the website of the country you wish to visit.
Embassies
Embassies of Member States of the European Union in Tajikistan
In Tajikistan, only one embassy of EU member state issues visas, namely the embassy of Germany. The embassy of Germany gives out visas for several other EU states as well. Below, you can find a list of all EU member states and the nearest embassy and website.

Erasmus Plus Programme
What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. It builds on the achievements of more than 25 years of European programmes in the fields of education, training and youth, covering both an intra-European as well as an international cooperation dimension. Erasmus+ is the result of the integration of the following European programmes implemented by the Commission during the period 2007-2013:
- Lifelong Learning Programme.
- Youth in Action Programme.
- Erasmus Mundus Programme.
- Tempus.
- Alfa.
- Edulink.
- Programmes of cooperation with industrialized countries in the field of higher education.
These programmes have been supporting Actions in the fields of higher education (including its international dimension), vocational education and training, school education, adult education and youth (including its international dimension).
Important Features of the Erasmus+ Programme
- Recognition and validation of skills and qualifications.
- Dissemination and exploitation of project results.
- Open access for educational materials, documents and media produced by Erasmus+.
- International dimension
- Multilingualism
Erasmus+ aims at going beyond these programmes, by promoting synergies and cross-fertilisation throughout the different fields of education, training and youth, removing artificial boundaries between the various actions and project formats, fostering new ideas, attracting new actors from the world of work and civil society and stimulating new forms of cooperation. Erasmus+ aims at becoming a more effective instrument to address the real needs in terms of human and social capital development in Europe and beyond.
Erasmus+ provides grants for a wide range of actions and activities in the fields of education, training, youth and sport. The programme gives opportunities to students, trainees, staff and volunteers to spend a period abroad to increase their skills and employability. It supports organisations to work in transnational partnership and to share innovative practices in the fields of education, training and youth. The new sport action will support grassroots projects and cross-border challenges such as combating match-fixing, doping, violence and racism.
What is the budget?
The Programme has an overall indicative financial envelope of €14.774 billion for the seven years (2014-2020) under Heading 1 of the EU Budget. The annual budget is adopted by the Budgetary Authority.
