On June 4, in one of the central parks of the Tashkent city, Ecological Party of Uzbekistan and the Ecological Movement held a festive event dedicated to World Environment Day. The EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Eduards Stiprais, took part in the event.

The Ambassador, Eduards Stiprais gave an opening speech. "The European Union is actively involved in environmental issues in Uzbekistan. The EU works with projects on water conservation, energy efficiency and waste recycling. A political decision has also been made to support the multi-partner fund to save the Aral Sea. This was announced at the meeting of the President European Council Donald Tusk and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The EU allocates 5 million euros to this Fund ", the Ambassador said. The participants of the festive event once again convinced of the importance of the contribution of mass media to the protection of the environment and human health, which play an increasingly prominent role in raising the level of ecological knowledge and shaping the ecological outlook of various segments of the population. Recognizing the high importance of the contribution of representatives of the mass media in raising public awareness of environmental problems and their solutions in Uzbekistan, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan and the Ecology Movement awarded the most active journalists who devoted their work to environmental issues and environmental protection, were awarded by the GWP journalists publishing materials on water topics.According to a good tradition, this day the winners of a number of competitions organized by the Ecology Movement together with partner organizations were awarded. The EU Delegation also presented prizes to journalists and children.
