À la suite d'une série d'attaques perpétrées par le PKK et ayant provoqué la mort de dizaines de personnes, nous réaffirmons notre condamnation des actes terroristes, adressons nos plus sincères condoléances aux personnes endeuillées et exprimons notre sympathie aux personnes blessées lors de ces récentes attaques.

In the wake of a series of attacks by the PKK in which dozens of people lost their lives, we reaffirm our condemnation of the terrorist acts and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved and sympathies to those injured in the recent attacks.

The deterioration of the overall security situation in Turkey as well as the escalation of violence, especially the attacks against media outlets and political party headquarters, key elements of any democracy, are extremely disquieting.

Frans (Timmermans) said it very well: this is a defining moment, a defining moment for our Union. Words are important, and the refugee crisis we are facing puts our deepest values – even our identity – to the test.

Delivering on the European Agenda on Migration from May, the European Commission is putting forward a comprehensive package of proposals which will help address the refugee crisis that EU Member States and neighbouring countries are facing, including tackling the root causes making people seek refuge in Europe. The new set of measures will alleviate pressure from Member States most affected – notably Greece, Italy and Hungary – by proposing to relocate 120,000 people in clear need of international protection to other EU Member States.

The European Union deployed an Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to observe the 17 August 2015 Parliamentary Elections. It was the largest international election observation mission in Sri Lanka, with 85 observers — from all 28 EU member states, plus Switzerland and Norway — including a delegation of six members of the European Parliament.
