Over the past 20 years, the European Union has put in place some of the highest common asylum standards in the world. And in the past two years, European migration policy has advanced in leaps and bounds with the European Agenda on Migration proposed by the Juncker Commission in May 2015. Europe is a continent of solidarity and will continue keeping legal pathways open for people in need of international protection.

Migration is a global issue that can only be addressed effectively by the international community as a whole. Managing the situation together with our partners remains at the top of the European agenda. To this end, the European Union continues to work relentlessly in close cooperation with Member States and international partners to save lives, provide protection, offer safe and legal pathways for migration and tackle the root causes that force people to leave their homes in first place, as well as fight the criminal networks that often take advantage of people's despair.

The 10 winners of the "Our Ocean" Short Story Writing Contest – organised by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia – received their prizes in an award ceremony held on 28 March 2018 in Jakarta.

This publication features 10 stories authored by young Indonesian writers who won the "Our Ocean" Short Story Contest. The contest was inspired by the Our Ocean Conference hosted by the European Union in Malta in 2017 and in view of the next edition of the Conference to be held in Bali, Indonesia in October 2018.

Les chiffres de l'analphabétisme au Maroc restent préoccupants malgré les efforts engagés depuis la première stratégie nationale en 2004, notamment en comparaison avec les autres pays de la région. Selon le recensement général de 2014, 32.2% de la population marocaine âgée de 10 ans et plus est analphabète, ce qui représente 8,6 millions de personnes. Les taux sont plus élevés chez les femmes et dans le monde rural. 11% des 15-29 ans sont analphabètes, ce qui traduit le phénomène de l'abandon scolaire et le problème de la qualité de l'enseignement.

After receiving specific training on electoral, legal, electoral campaign and media issues in the capital, the 24 long-term observers of the European Union Electoral Observation Mission – Paraguay 2018 were deployed to all the regions of the country.

The 10 winners of the "Our Ocean" Short Story Writing Contest – organised by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia – received their prizes in an award ceremony held in Jakarta on Wednesday (28 March). The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries H.E. Susi Pudjiastuti, EU Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Vincent Guérend and Ambassadors of EU Member States.
