1. The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Ms. RETNO L.P. MARSUDI, and the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Ms. FEDERICA MOGHERINI, co-chaired the first meeting of the Indonesia-EU Ministerial Strategic Dialogue on 8 April 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The topics discussed ranged from bilateral to regional and global issues. By engaging in this Strategic Dialogue, the Foreign Minister and High Representative decided to move the relationship to a new level of partnership.

The European Union and Indonesia share the common objective of promoting regional peace, security, stability, and prosperity through dialogue, cooperation, connectivity (including in its people-to-people dimension) and economic integration, both internally and with the rest of the world. The experiences of European integration and ASEAN can contribute to strengthening an effective and norms-based multilateral world order.

L’Union européenne et l’Indonésie ont pour objectif commun de promouvoir la paix, la sécurité, la stabilité et la prospérité dans la région par le dialogue, la coopération, la connectivité (y compris dans sa dimension interpersonnelle) et l’intégration économique, tant au niveau interne que dans le reste du monde. EU Ambassador Sabathil visited and met the president Sangjin Park and the Vice president Dohyon Kim of Samsun Electroics at their Seocho HQ on Friday 8 April.
Before the meeting, Ambassador visited and experienced Samsung's technology at the D'light.
Both party shared the importance of the Samsung's importance to the Korean economy and its contribution for the EU-ROK FTA, EU market perspectives and business strategies, Samsung's initiatives in Europe and its environmental policy.
The European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Mr Dimitris Avramopoulos, travelled to Geneva on the 8th of April 2016 where he attended the Geneva Conference on Preventing Violent Extremism – The Way Forward, co-hosted by the Government of Switzerland and the United Nations.
The EU and Mercosur will exchange market access offers in the second week of May, following a meeting held today in Brussels by EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and Rodolfo Nin Novoa, Foreign Minister of Uruguay, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the Latin American trading bloc Mercosur.
