The publication by the Government of Colombia and the FARC of a detailed report on the setting-up of the Commission for Truth, Peaceful Coexistence and Non Repetition is a welcome step in the peace negotiations. It is particularly significant that victims will be playing a central role in this process.

The heavy fighting around Mariyinka, near Donetsk, yesterday in Eastern Ukraine constitutes the most serious violation of the ceasefire under the Minsk agreements since February.

This escalation followed the movement of a large amount of heavy weapons towards the contact line by the Russia-backed separatists, as reported by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission. Renewed intense fighting risks unleashing a new spiral of violence and human suffering.

Cette escalade fait suite à l'acheminement d’une grande quantité d’armes lourdes vers la ligne de front par les séparatistes soutenus par la Russie, comme le rapporte la mission spéciale d’observation de l’OSCE. La reprise de combats intenses risque de générer une nouvelle spirale de la violence et de la souffrance humaine.
