The CSDP Annual Report provides an overview of how EU CSDP Operations & Missions delivered on three priorities - stabilising our region, contributing to the resilience of partner countries and enhancing our responsiveness in all phases of the conflict cycle.

The EU-Japan strategic partnership is based upon longstanding cooperation, shared values and principles such as democracy, the rule of law, human rights, good governance, multilateralism and open market economies. Japan is one of the EU’s closest and most like-minded partners. Over the years, EU–Japan relations have been developing steadily, from enhanced political cooperation to trade and investment, and other areas of interest, ranging from development to climate, research, innovation and growth. Under the new Strategic Partnership Agreement, EU and Japan will expand this cooperation into new areas and strengthen it, especially on matters pertaining to security.

The European Union, together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration, will co-host the International solidarity conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis on 28-29 October in Brussels.

It is estimated that, so far, 4.3 million Venezuelans have fled as a result of the political turmoil, socio-economic instability and humanitarian crisis in their country.

The historic Peace and Reconciliation Agreement signed in Maputo on 6 August was an inspiration to the outside world: the electoral process which has followed is a real test of the readiness of Mozambique's political actors and institutions to maintain and protect the freedoms and rights which will help to bring the benefits of the peace to citizens.
