The Delegation of the European Union (EU) issues the following statement in agreement with the EU Heads of Missions, the High Commissioner of Canada, and the Ambassador of Norway resident in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Astana, 16 July 2018 – UN Children’s fund (UNICEF), European Union and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan launched a new joint programme protecting children affected by migration. The three year programme will be implemented with the Government of Kazakhstan, national and international partners, UNHCR and IOM.

АСТАНА, 16 Июля 2018 – Детский Фонд ООН (ЮНИСЕФ), Европейский Союз в Казахстане и Уполномоченный по правам человека в Республике Казахстан запустили новую совместную программу по защите прав детей в миграционных процессах. Программа, длительностью в 3 года, будет реализована совместно с Правительством Республики Казахстан, национальными и международными партнерами, УВКБ ООН и МОМ.

On the occasion of this 20th EU-China Summit, the two sides celebrated the 15th anniversary of the EU-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This has greatly enhanced the level of EU-China relations, with fruitful outcomes achieved in politics, economy, trade, culture, people-to-people exchanges and other fields. The Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their partnership for peace, growth, reform and civilisation, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, equality and mutual benefit, by comprehensively implementing the EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation.

ALMATY, 12-13 July 2018 – For the first time the issues of transboundary water resources management were discussed by 10 Central Asian and neighboring countries during the regional meeting on strengthening intersectoral collaboration on water management and strengthening the role of water for sustainable development. Official representatives of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the experts on energy, water, environment and health issues from each country took part in the meeting.
