The event, which marks the 10th anniversary of the first European Day Against Human
Trafficking (2007), will highlight the need for a better public awareness about modern slavery and the collaboration between Governments, International Organisations, and Civil Society to prevent human trafficking, to protect and rehabilitate victims.
The 23rd conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) took place in Cairo, Egypt, between 10 and 15 September 2017. The event was hosted by CCCPA, the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding. Around 270 participants, of 50 nationalities and representing 110 organisations, attended the event.
With the adoption of the new 'EU Policy on Training for CSDP' on 3 April 2017, appropriate training has become mandatory for all future staff prior to deployment, including seconded and contracted personnel.
Together with the principle of duty of care, training is a key component of any systematic approach to managing organisation's responsibility to care for personnel deployed abroad. Training and deployment are therefore interconnected.
Today, the new Ambassador of the European Union to Myanmar, Mr Kristian SCHMIDT, handed over his credentials to the President of the Union of Myanmar, U Htin Kyaw, at the presidential palace in Nay Pyi Taw.
