Suite à la remise en 2018 de 150 équipements de protection individuelle et de matériel de lutte contre les mines et autres engins explosifs, la Délégation de l'Union européenne auprès du Burkina Faso, par l'intermédiaire de l’opérateur de mise en œuvre conjointement agréé, vient de procéder à la remise de quatre blindés de type Bastion destinés au bataillon burkinabè de la Force Conjointe du G5 Sahel. Deux blindés supplémentaires seront livrés dans les prochaines semaines. D’un coût total d’environ deux milliards et demi, le don européen couvre également la formation des équipages et des mécaniciens de ces véhicules ainsi que les équipements de transmission.

The European Union Delegation to Afghanistan understands and values the difficulty and courage that President Ghani's recent decision to release prisoners entailed. The release of 2 professors and 10 Afghan hostages held by the Taliban for 3 Taliban prisoners is a strong gesture of goodwill by both sides. This highly symbolic and humanitarian measure can pave the way for further measures to put the peace process in motion, such as a swift launch of negotiations and work towards a ceasefire.
