The European Union has a long-term partnership with Afghanistan. In close coordination with Afghanistan's international partners, the European Union is engaged with the Afghan government to fight corruption, improve oversight, enable economic growth, reduce poverty and strengthen democratic institutions.

In Yerevan for her first official visit to Armenia Federica Mogherini held talks with political leaders and representatives of civil society. She began her visit to the country with a meeting with Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

During her visit she had a long and constructive exchange with President Serzh Sargsyan.

It is a pleasure for me to be here and to address the press again together with you, Edward [Minister Nalbandian]. We were together in Brussels in December last year to launch the negotiations on the new EU-Armenia Agreement and at that occasion we had the pleasure to address the press.
