The terrorist attack today on a market in Sadr City has claimed the lives of at least 64 innocent civilians, including children, and has injured many more. This continues the appalling trend of terrorist attacks perpetrated by Da'esh across Iraq in its attempts to undermine the restoration of normal life and government in the country. The EU expresses its condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.

This page provides an outline of the relations between the European Union (EU) and Pakistan in areas such as political, economic and trade relations, governance, rural development and human rights.

The EU is working on a large number of development and humanitarian projects across Pakistan. Education and vocational training is the single largest sector for EU funding. Thousands of boys and girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh have improved access to schools due to EU funding. Higher quality of curricula and text books, and more professional teachers, are among the criteria for receiving EU funding.

The EU offers jobs to citizens in different ways, it also offers public contracts and provides funding in the form of grants to support projects and organisations.

Since the creation of the so-called Schengen Zone travel between EU countries has become much easier.
Quality, diversity, and opportunity are among the many benefits of European higher education institutions.
