Today we celebrate women. We celebrate their role in society, at work, in our families and lives. We also remember their suffering, hardship and injustice, which for many is still a reality today. It is also true that we must promote gender equality not just today, on International Women's Day, but every day.

Earlier this week European Union representatives attended the ground-breaking ceremonies for two new 'County Service Centers' in Bomi and Rivercess Counties respectively, marking the EU's continued support for the decentralization process, which will bring government closer to the people and make the administration more accountable in delivering on its obligations to the public.

L'UE réitère sa solidarité avec le peuple et le Gouvernement tunisiens, et adresse ses sincères condoléances aux familles des victimes parmi la population civile et les forces de sécurité.


The attack committed today by a terrorist group in Ben Guerdane once again illustrates the seriousness of the threat faced by Tunisia.

The EU reiterates its solidarity with the Tunisian people and government, and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims among the civilian population and the security forces.


Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met today in Brussels with the H.E. Abdul Malek Al Mekhlafi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen to discuss the current political and humanitarian situation in the country and prospects for resolution of the conflict.


Thank you for inviting the EU, as a member of the Quartet, to attend this extraordinary Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Despite many other competing political challenges facing the Middle East region, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains crucial – not only for Israelis and Palestinians- but for regional stability.

The coordination team from the European Union's election observation mission arrived in the country on 5 March to observe the general election that will take place on 10 April 2016.
