Three new grants to support the work of IGAD in the promotion of peace and stability in the Horn of Africa have been formally launched today. The grants amounting to EUR 4.2 M are part of the EU Trust Fund programme “IGAD Promoting Peace and Stability in the Horn of Africa Region (IPPSHAR)” supported by the European Union (EU), ADA (Austria Development Agency), the Netherlands and Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).

We welcome the resumption of contacts as a sign of willingness to continue consultations to reach a broad-based agreement.  We reiterate the necessity for all parties to compromise with each other.


On 13 March, Honduras welcomed the first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the COVAX mechanism: 48 000 out of the 424 800 doses to be received between March and May.

The Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Iran nuclear deal, will resume its work in a physical format today, 17 April at 13.00 CET in Vienna.

The Joint Commission will be chaired on behalf of EU High Representative Josep Borrell by the Deputy Secretary General/Political Director of the European External Action Service, Enrique Mora. It will be attended by representatives of China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and Iran.

693,000 ევროს (2,700,000 ლარის) ღირებულების ავტომანქანები კიდევ უფრო გააძლიერებს საქართველოს მთავრობის შესაძლებლობებს უკანონო მიგრაციასთან და ტრანსსასაზღვრო დანაშაულთან ბრძოლაში.


Vehicles with a total value of 693,000 EUR (GEL 2,700,000) will further develop abilities of the Georgian Government to combat irregular migration and cross-border crime.
