Le 2 juillet, les Nations unies ont ajouté le Yémen à la liste des urgences humanitaires du plus haut niveau (urgence de niveau 3). Le pays est confronté à une catastrophe humanitaire, 21 millions de personnes, soit 80 % de sa population, étant en situation de détresse humanitaire. Une grave crise alimentaire menace.

On 2 July, the United Nations added Yemen to the list of highest-level humanitarian emergencies; a level 3 crisis. The country is facing a humanitarian catastrophe, with 21 million people, 80% of Yemen's population, in need of humanitarian assistance. A major food crisis is looming.

More than one hundred participants from 52 non-EU partner countries and international organisations, including 13 Ambassadors, gathered today at an EEAS seminar on the perspectives for the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) following the European Council of 25 and 26 June 2015.

The European Union Delegation, the Heads of Mission of France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, The United Kingdom and the Heads of Mission of Canada, Norway, Switzerland and the United States issue the following statement in South Sudan:

"The Heads of Mission are deeply disturbed by the atrocities committed by government forces documented in the recent UNMISS report on the Escalation of Fighting in Greater Upper Nile, published on June 30th 2015.

 

Today's terrorist attack against MINUSMA in northern Mali claimed the lives of five UN peacekeepers from Burkina Faso and wounded nine others who were carrying out their mandate to maintain stability and security in the region.

The EU expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Burkina Faso.
