UNECE, Beijing+20 Regional Review Meeting, 6-7 November 2014. EU-MS Key messages (as delivered)

"The agreement between all parties, announced in Ouagadougou on 5 November 2014, on the underlying principles of a political transition led by civilian figures to allow the prompt restoration of constitutional order, is a step in the right direction.

The commitment of ECOWAS, the African Union and the United Nations has been a crucial part of this process, in particular the African Union statement of 3 November and then the Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government on 6 November, which also discussed the role of the army.

"L´annonce faite depuis Ouagadougou, le 5 Novembre dernier, d'un accord entre toutes les parties prenantes sur les principes de la mise en œuvre d´une transition politique menée par des personnalités civiles et qui permette le rétablissement rapide de l'ordre constitutionnel représente un pas dans la bonne direction.

Remarks by EU High Representative Federica Mogherini ahead of her meeting with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu

"Thank you, Prime Minister. It's a pleasure for me to start from here. It's my first trip outside of the European Union and there's a reason for that: not only friendship that is there between Israel and the European Union, but also the fact that the new European leadership, the new Commission, has started this mandate, this five-year mandate, with the slogan of a new start. And it would be good to have a new start also in this part of our region.

“Libya needs more than ever a strong, steady and common political initiative. The European Union continues to believe that dialogue, in whatever shape or form, remains crucial and that the solution of the crisis requires a political settlement.

Languages:

La Libye a plus que jamais besoin d'une initiative politique commune, forte et soutenue. L'Union européenne reste convaincue que le dialogue, quelle qu'en soit la forme, demeure essentiel et que la solution de la crise passe par un accord politique.

"I highly value the ideas on the way forward on Bosnia and Herzegovina presented last night in Berlin by German Foreign Minister, Frank Walter Steinmeier, and British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond. They advocate a new approach, which I have had the chance of discussing with them in the last days, with the objective to get Bosnia and Herzegovina moving again on the reform track so it can proceed on its EU path.
