The EU’s external policies, strategies, instruments and missions to support stability, promote human rights and democracy, seek to spread prosperity, and support the enforcement of the rule of law and good governance.

The announcement by the Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) on the launch of formal peace negotiations is an important step in Colombia's pursuit of peace.  Together with the current negotiations with the FARC, parallel peace talks with the ELN represent a unique window of opportunity to put an end to decades of confrontation, violence and suffering in the country. 

"Today, Uganda's Supreme Court dismissed the petition to annul the result of the 18 February 2016 presidential elections thereby validating the result.  In its ruling the Supreme Court also identifies a number of areas in need of structural and legal reform.
