على الرغم من استمرار تدهور الأوضاع في سوريا، لا تزال الأغلبية الساحقة من السوريين في وطنهم، سوريا. وبالإضافة إلى توفير المواد العاجلة والمساعدات الغذائية ودعم المدارس والمزارعين، تدعم المنظمة التشيكية غير الحكومية "بيبُل إن نيد" الجاليات السورية في بناء قدرتها على الصمود. تم تنفيذ برنامج "النقد مقابل العمل" الممول من قبل دائرة المساعدات الإنسانية والحماية المدنية (إيكو) التابعة للمفوضية الأوروبية بصورة مباشرة في المحافظات السورية حلب وإدلب منذ شهر نيسان 2015. من خلال هذا البرنامج، تمكنت أكثر من 1930 أسرة سورية من كسب لقمة العيش لتوفير المأكل والملبس لأسرهم ودفع الإيجارات المترتبة عليهم.


Despite the fact that the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate, the overwhelming majority of Syrians remain in their country. In addition to providing immediate material and food aid and supporting schools and farmers, Czech NGO People in Need supports the Syrian communities in building resilience. The 'Cash for work' programme funded by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) has been directly implemented in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo and Idleb since April 2015. Through this programme, more than 1 930 families have been able to earn a living to provide food and clothing to their families, and pay for rent.

The Arctic is both a frontier and gateway to Europe and one which is threatened by climate change. Its Oceans, ecosystems and bio-diversity have a huge impact on our own.

Wednesday 27 April saw the EU unveil an integrated Arctic policy which will focus on climate change and environmental protection, sustainable development and international cooperation. EU High Representative Federica Mogherini joined climate Commissioner Karmenu Vella to launch the new initiative.
