The European Union, represented by Mr. Neven MIMICA, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, represented by Ms. Nyeleti MONDLANE, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, hereinafter referred to as the Parties, determined the general orientations for cooperation for the period 2014-2020.
The European Union (EU) deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM), upon invitation from the Mozambican authorities, on 16 September 2014. In total, the EU EOM deployed 110 observers from 19 EU Member States, Canada, Norway and Switzerland, across the country to assess the whole electoral process against international obligations and commitments for democratic elections as well as the laws of Mozambique.
The EU’s external policies, strategies, instruments and missions to support stability, promote human rights and democracy, seek to spread prosperity and support the enforcement of the rule of law and good governance.
