Federica Mogherini today met in Berlin with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Secretary of State John Kerry and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in a concerted effort to ease the tensions in the Middle East. The High Representative/Vice President also plans to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday in Brussels. She will travel to Vienna tomorrow for a Quartet Principals’ meeting on the Middle East Peace Process and some bilateral meetings.

The long stalemate in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the crises in Syria and in the entire region will be at the centre of a series of meetings that Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, will have in the coming days. The situation of the Somali refugees was discussed at a financial pledging conference held in Brussels on Wednesday 21 October. The conference brought together European and African leaders and the UNHCR to discuss one of the most protracted refugee issues facing the world.
